September 2022 Monthly Round Up

N: Who’s month is it anyway? (E: I thought you knew XD) Anyway, right now, we are doing our best to recover and get back to some semblance of normal. We’ve been crazy busy but also fighting with our health lately and something had to give and, unfortunately, it was the blog. Have no fear, we are doing our best to keep going and, hopefully, this post means we’re back to some kind of normal. Perhaps next month we’ll have some interesting things to review (be ready for Niamh with her list of movies and TV shows around Halloween she’s only been waiting years for some of these releases!) and a far more regular schedule but, until then, let’s have a look at our favourite things this last month!

Book of the Month

E: I haven’t got my hands on it yet but I already know it will be amazing: Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco. I can not wait to find out what happens to Emilia and Wrath.

N: In preparation for the TV of the same name I reread my favourite vampire series of all time: Interview with a Vampire by Ann Rice. I am ready to judge.

Movies & TV

TV Show Picks

E: Oddly enough, I’ve just started watching Sherlock. I don’t know how to feel about it just yet but don’t worry I will let you know.

N: Heartbreak High – The reboot of the Australian 80’s TV show hit Netflix this month and I was obsessed!

Good Movie Recommendation:

E: Look Both Ways is a great movie that shows the impact one pivotal point in life can have on a person, their plans and their path.

N: It was just one of those months again so.. The Notebook is making an appearance again.

Cheesy Bad Movie Recommendation:

E: Do Revenge – it’s Clueless and Mean Girls meets Cruel Intentions and, honestly, I loved it.

N: Never Been Kissed, it’s adorable but always has a massive element of cheese in my book.

Gaming Picks

E: I’m waiting for particular games to appear so until they do I’ll be here playing Animal Crossing: New Horizon and buying all the cups of coffee.

N: Haven’t gamed all month so I’ll have to bow out of this one this month.

Music

Single of the Month

E: Kiss Me by Dermot Kennedy. To say I’m waiting very impatiently for ‘Sonder’ to arrive is an understatement. P.S. I adore that Dermot uses such a huge and varying vocabulary without fear *badum tsss*

N: Single of the month is more a song of the month from 5SOS new album because it broke me. ‘Emotions’… Us Michael Clifford girls are still getting over ‘Jet Black Heart’ we weren’t ready for ‘Emotions’! I felt every moment of that song.

Album/EP of the Month

E: 5SOS5 by 5 Seconds of Summer

N: Moncrieff ‘Warm’ EP. I was waiting and waiting for it and…  it was totally worth it. ‘Talk’ is out in the world!

Also late addition that came out 30th September Album of the month is Hamsandwich ‘Magnify’ it is stunningly fabulous. You need to listen to every song and just dance along!

Favourite Things

Favourite Thing About September

E: When you break your best friend in the middle of a gig 😉 (iykyk)

N: Having the courage to say f*** it and go along with a few moments of madness.

Favourite Item of the Month

E: All my new Verstappen Store purchases and presents. I have a lot of MV branded clothes right now.

N: Sun Hat!

Event of the Month

E: It has to be the Dutch Grand Prix. It was an unforgettable experience and I am so grateful I got to go.

N: Dutch Grand Prix wins hands down this month. It was so much better than what I thought it was going to be and the dutch are insane!

Moment of the Month

E: Being the Chief Strategist and head commentator for the little group of F1 fans in our area and admitting that I can, in fact, pick out Max Verstappen and Gianpiero Lambiase’s voices if they were whispering in an F1 garage.

N: To my mortification being interviewed for being a Mick Schumacher fan has to be the most embarrassing moment of the month… no future questions will be answered at this time about it.

Quote of the Month

E: “Which tells us what?”

N: “That I need to write you more solos…”

Three things you are most excited about for October

E: Halloween!!!! It’s spooky season soon and I can’t wait! Also looking forward to some new music that I’m hoping to review next month so I’m hoping it actually arrives and a few more gigs this month that will be interesting to say the least.

N: Binge watching all my favourite Halloween films, attending a number of gigs in my favourite home county venue The Set Theatre and new programming in work.
