My Year in Music – October 2021

So, October was kind of like a reunion with gigs instead of people. They’re back and even though how they’re being run so far isn’t exactly perfect at least they’re back in some capacity. Being back at gigs has brought back the joy of live music and, finally, the Irish Music Industry can slowly get back up off its knees. Some people (mostly government officials) need to recognise the importance of the arts and treat it with the respect it deserves. October was a chance to see some old acquaintances and friends and, boy, was it good to see so many people again. Gigs are a part of my social life so no gigs means no seeing people and no gigs and no friends makes me a little… stir crazy. It’s only now that gigs are back that I realise how hard the past 18-20 months have been on so many people. We all love socialising but, with so much taken out of the equation due to circumstances beyond our control, I think a lot of people suffered during the lockdowns and quarantines and being back has never felt so good.

Anyway, that’s enough of that! This month I’ve decided to offer you two versions of the Spotify playlist for a change. One is the entire year to date while the other is just October’s song choices. The YouTube playlist will stay as is for now though. I hope you enjoy and, remember, it’s okay to be kind to yourself.
