May 2021 Monthly Round up

We are more free in Ireland now than we have been in over 6 months. We can travel from county to county and meet up with friends. What madness is this?! Both Niamh and I are getting back to work but that doesn’t mean we won’t be doing as much as we can to keep the blog ticking over while we work. We have so much more to share with you all so have no fear, we are dedicated to the cause! In case you haven’t guessed, the good weather lately has put me (Emma) in a great mood and I think everyone in Ireland is hoping it lasts. So it’s no longer ‘gonna be May’ but, since May is over, we can write about all our favourite things and, with tons to talk about, we better jump right into it!

Book of the Month

E: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. I read this such a long time ago and came across the book again and reread it. It is such a great story really.

N: ‘You Will Get Through This Night’ by Daniel Howell. Wait, isn’t he a YouTuber? Yes he is but Dan has said down and written a book to help those who are battling what he has gone through. Such a fantastic read and well worth picking up.

Movies & TV

TV Show Picks

E: The Gifted – I accidentally found this show on Disney+ and I’m hooked but there’s only two seasons so I’m mildly concerned. It’s such a good show based on some of the lesser known Marvel mutants.

N: I finally got around to finishing ‘October Faction’ by binge watching it. Devastated Netflix cancelled it. If anyone knows where I can pick up the comics it is based on, please let me know!

Good Movie Recommendation:

E: Monday – I loved this film. Does the fact that Sebastian Stan stars in this film help? Yes but I also just loved the set up and scenery of this movie.

N: School of Rock! In memory of Kevin Clark who played Fred in the film, it is only right to pick School of Rock this month as my good film recommendation. Like many people I have watched this countless of years throughout the years, it will forever be an epic classic!

Cheesy Bad Movie Recommendation:

E: A Good Year – I don’t even know why I found myself watching this movie but the cheese was spectacular! My god!

N: Riverdance: The Animated Adventure. Brendan Gleeson and Pierce Brosnan in a Sky original animated movie based on the Irish dancing company ‘Riverdance’. It’s very harmless and will make you laugh a lot but, as an Irish we have to love it. A full review is coming soon.

Gaming Picks

E: Uncharted – all of them! I went looking for a game and Niamh suggested Uncharted and I love this franchise now. It’s up there with Tomb Raider for me now.

N: Unfortunately, I couldn’t focus much time on gaming this month but I enjoyed smashing my way around Assassin’s Creed Valhalla when I could focus on gaming.

Music

Single of the Month

E: Electric – Katy Perry. It’s such a feel good song and it combines Pokémon and Katy Perry. What’s not to love?!

N: Róisín Ó ‘2023’. Bop after absolute bop from one of my favorite Irish female artists!

Album/EP of the Month

E: To be honest, no new album really stood out to me lately but I did go diving into the CDs I have at home and ‘A Little Bit Longer’ by the Jonas Brothers is still amazing!

N: This month saw Alexander Ludwig drop his debut EP that is self entitled ‘Alexander Ludwig’. Country music lovers look out for this one and give it a listen! You might know Alexander from his movie and tv series acting but, he is taking the country music scene but storm! My favourite country music drop in ages!

Favourite Things

Favourite Thing About May

E: The improvement in the weather at the end of the month. Oh my god it was amazing!

N: Not much really happened during May for me so, I’ll have to say all the epic music that kept me going throughout the month!

Favourite Item of the Month

E: My new Falcon Pop figure. I now have two out of my three favourite Marvel men in Pop form. I just need a Bucky.

N: With the month that was, my dressing gown, Cosy, soft and comforting.

Moment of the Month

E: Max Verstappen winning my favourite Grand Prix for the first time and taking the lead in the Driver’s Championship while RedBull took the lead in the constructor’s championship. Monaco baby! You love to see it.

N: Heading back to work for my first full day of work since the end of December! It is so good to be back.

Your Quote of the Month

E: “To the person who does not know where he wants to go there is no favorable wind.”

N: “Divide each difficulty into as many parts as is feasible and necessary to resolve it, and watch the whole transform”

Three things you are most excited about for June?

E: IT’S REUNION TIME! I’m also just excited to be more able to go out and about and now no one will look at me funny for drinking iced tea all day everyday (it’s the only tea I drink).

N: Finally reuniting with Emma, I think everyone knows but us besties aren’t usually separated for too long by distance but, thanks to lockdowns I can count on one hand how many times I have seen Emma in the past year and a bit! After that School Tour Season at work and a few exciting bits coming in June!
