5 Things to Tune into This Saint Patrick’s Day

Happy Early St Patrick’s Day one and all! Saint Patrick Day is the one day of the year everyone around the world with any sort of Irish heritage gets to celebrate everything that makes the Irish culture and heritage great! We, here at Our Muchness Guide, could give you a history lesson on the fact that there were actually three Patrick’s that Saint Patrick was based on. However, after the year we’ve all had, we decided this Saint Patrick’s Day Post is dedicated to our rising stars of 2020, who either kept us sane through the tough times or created something that inspired the nation. So, if you have no plans this Saint Patrick’s Day except watching some of the Virtual Parades, we have 5 things to tune into this Saint Patrick’s Day to celebrate!

Saint Patrick’s Day Morning

Awake and looking for something fun to do to kickstart your morning right? Our first recommendation is to tune into Today FM and dance away the morning with Jessica Maciel! She will be broadcasting from 8am until 11am and of course there will be some St.Patrick’s Day banter!

Jessica joined the Today FM line up at the beginning of 2020 with her own show, this progressed to two more shows leading to an entire weekend filled with this amazing presenter. Jessica isn’t new to the airwaves with previous radio shows including Spin 103.8 and a guest show spot with BBC Radio 1 during their Christmas programming however; 2020 was the year Jessica Maciel became a household name in Today FM. There is always great music, the discussions are always interesting and you’ll always learn something new be it with her Guess The Year, Sunday Statics or, the week’s quiz. You can tune in worldwide here.

Saint Patrick’s Day Afternoon

Our next recommendation to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day doesn’t start until Midday and you’ll need to grab your laptop or mobile phone for this one unless you’re one of our American readers then you will need to turn on your television! Cairde are performing on Good Morning America.

Cairde are a dance group consisting of seven Irish dancers, Dara Kelly, Francis Fallon, Stephen McGuinness, Seamus Morrison, Brian Culligan, Ethan Sean and Ronan O’Connell, all of whom are from the West and Southwest of Ireland, namely Galway, Clare and Cork. Cairde have taken TikTok by storm amassing nearly 2million followers and almost 25 million likes on the platform. The group made a name for themselves putting a modern twist to Irish dancing, using traditional Irish dance steps set to modern music. The group will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day dancing on the Cliff of Moher in Clare for Good Morning America on ABC. The broadcast will also be shown live on the monitors in Time Square, New York which is a huge achievement for the group whose rise to popularity really only began during Ireland’s lockdown. Cairde also recently announced that they will be on This Morning with Philip and Holly on ITV at 11am as well.

Next up at 1pm until 3pm we have a performance from Robert Grace in association with Kilkenny’s Saint Patrick’s Festival!

Robert Grace is a singer-songwriter and producer from Kilkenny who, during lockdown, found his single ‘Fake Fine’ gaining traction on radio stations across the country after he decided to try his hand at sharing covers and original songs on TikTok. The popularity of Fake Fine also ensured that major labels sat up and took notice with Sony, Universal and Warner all wanting to sign the Kilkenny man. Now signed to Sony, Grace has just released his second original track ‘The Hurt You Gave Me’ and will be performing online live at the link below.

Our last must see event of the afternoon kicks off at 4pm with what’s bound to be a memorable and mesmerising performance is ‘Wolfwalkers’ with Kila in Concert at 4pm.

Ireland’s Award Winning Animation Studio, Cartoon Saloon, are celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day by celebrating their latest release ‘Wolfwalkers’ by teaming up with Kila who partnered with them for the soundtrack of the film. Cartoon Saloon’s work is heavily influenced by Irish mythology, folklore and landmarks so it was only right that we included the people who bring Niamh’s Undergraduate degree to life! Be ready for the concert to make you fall in love with the storyline and the animations; it might even inspire you to dig a little deeper into Ireland’s mythical past. Regardless if you have seen ‘Wolfwalkers’ or not, we would urge everyone to tune into this one; trust us it’s going to be magical. This event is suitable for all ages, will be an hour long and is a free event that can be watched worldwide! You can watch it here.

Saint Patrick’s Day Evening

Lastly, we have to recommend to end the night with Ryan Tubridy and his guests on The Late Late Show at 9.35pm.

Love it or hate it, The Late Late Show belongs on this list because can you even consider yourself Irish if you don’t have Ryan on in the background this year? Ryan Tubrity and his team at RTE really stepped up in 2020 with their guest line up and charity donation nights. One thing I am proud of this country for in the past year is how much money we donated collectively to charities that really needed it! Millions were raised, we laughed along to the happy stories and cried along with the sad one but no one can say that when the time came to take action that we didn’t do anything! As for tomorrow night on the Show? Brendan Gleeson is by far my highlight as one of the guests. You can watch it via the RTE Player here or via your television screen.

So from both of us ‘Lá Fhéile Pádraig shona duit’ and make the most of everybody being a little bit Irish tomorrow.
