Valentines Day Playlist

So, with Valentine’s Day coming up fast, we thought about lots of different things to do to mark the occasion. So being that we’re on a little music binge this year and gathering music into playlists, why not do the same for Valentine’s day and supply you with some of our favourite love songs. Yes, some of them will be super cheesy and, no, there’ll be no stalker anthems here thank you very much. This music is definitely 50:50 when it comes to the songs chosen. So, 50% of the Taylor Swift and One Direction songs are mine; the rest are Niamh’s have fun guessing who chose what 😉 The best fact about this post is that I started with about 35/40 songs then Niamh chose 90 (! Over the top much? XD) (I am very music orientated when it comes to describing my mood… so, no I could have put a lot more Em, you know that!) and I had to find even more songs to balance out the numbers so we chose roughly the same number of songs. Here’s the songs that we both chose while making our lists separately (We swear these crossovers were completely by accident):

  1. A Thousand Miles – Vanessa Carlton
  2. A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
  3. All of Me – John Legend
  4. Can’t Get You Out Of My Head – Kylie
  5. Just The Way You Are – Bruno Mars
  6. Love Story – Taylor Swift
  7. Lovebug – Jonas Brothers
  8. Lover – Taylor Swift
  9. No Judgement – Niall Horan
  10. Sight Of You – Sigrid
  11. Take My Hand – Picture This
  12. Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran
  13. The Vow – Ruthanne
  14. Time After Time – Cyndi Lauper

Emma: My personal favourite would have to be Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are.”

Niamh: While my personal favourite is ‘Sparks Fly’ by Taylor Swift.

And as always when we supply you with a lovely list of music, we’ll be adding a playlist of the songs to Spotify and YouTube if you fancy a listen.

 Niamh’s Overall Thoughts

With over 180 songs and counting; anyone who knows myself and Emma fairly well might be able to pinpoint a number of songs but here are a few hints for me.

5 songs I listen to time and time again:

  • ‘Sparks Fly’ Taylor Swift – My ‘Someday I’ll Have This’ Taylor Swift song.
  • ‘Runaway’ Against the Current – This one is for anyone who has/had a thing for someone who everyone says is wrong for you or ‘far from your usual type.’ Sometimes you learn the most about yourself and others in these types of relationships. ‘Runaway’ is for when the going gets tough and you both decide to battle through it anyway.
  • ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ Whitney Houston – I dare you to listen to this song and not think about the person you care about the most. Besides the obvious, it is the best song to sing into a hair brush and dance around the room to.
  • ‘Thinking Out Loud’ Ed Sheeran – My wedding song, my future partner can fight me for this but, it is THE love song for me.
  • ‘No Judgement’ Niall Horan – I know this song only came out Friday 9th February but it is quickly becoming one of my favourites. You really need to be yourself around those you care about.

Guilty pleasure song

  • ‘Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss)’ Cher – This might seem silly but, this song is the fun bubbly song you sing into a hair brush daydreaming about love in your teens. I adore this entire scene in ‘Mermaids (1990)’. Cause you know… “It’s in his kiss.”

Current songs that reflect me to a T:

  • ‘Question Mark’ Stephanie Rainey – I hate ‘What Ifs’ with a passion but, Stephanie Rainey helps put this to bed. Realistically you will always have at least one Question Mark in your life. What you do about it is your business!
  • What If’ Emilie Autumn – Don’t be fooled by this title. ‘What If’ by Emilie Autumn questions whether a person will accept you for you. If you let all traits, quirks, fears and all of your personality out with no holding back; will they like the real you and not just the outer shell.
  • ‘Damned if I do ya, Damned if I don’t’ All Time Low. This is the ‘if you know you know’ moment. We’ll see how it plays out.

One out of place song that reflects a past flame:

  • ‘Ugly Heart’ G.R.L – Unfortunately, it takes one person to turn your world upside down and make you doubt yourself 10x times over. But once you get out of that haze and know you deserve better there are some real anthems to dance around to. This one is mine.

Songs not on Spotify that needed to be mentioned in this list

  • ‘I Believe’ Basic Vacation – This band broke up just over a year ago but, to this day I still listen to this one. It is a great song to remind you that, once you find that special someone and they feel the same way; don’t give up when times get hard. It was my anthem during my last Long-Distance Relationship. You can give it a listen here.
  • ‘G.M.S.O.Y.L’ Wild YouthGive Me Some of Your Love is a fan favourite and I’m not going to lie it is my alarm clock song and my ringtone. It sums up a number of situations in anyone’s love life but, more importantly it is such an amazing song. Give it a listen here if you weren’t fortunate enough to catch it at a live show.

Emma’s Overall Thoughts

Hmm I’ll give you a few songs that I chose but I wouldn’t want to spoil the guessing game; so out of 180+ songs, I’ll let you know these particular songs are mine(-ish :P). There not necessarily all mine

5 songs I listen to time and time again

  • Evermore Josh Groban – This is a song about loving someone enough to let them go if you have to and that, to me, is the meaning of really being in love; having everything and letting it all go to make someone else happy or let them do what they need/want to do even if it hurts.
  • I Will Wait Mumford and Sons – To me, this song is about the difficulty of an LDR and the desire to wait for that one person that you are unswervingly loyal to: “I will wait, I will wait for you”.
  • Paper Rings Taylor Swift – This song is so poppy and upbeat but it’s all about the genuine sentiments of lifelong devotion, being willing to marry a guy if he offered her a paper ring because all she wants is love from him.
  • I Really Like You Carly Rae Jepsen – Hmm I wonder what this song is about XD it’s a blunt declaration of feeling. I wish I could do this.
  • All or Nothing Wild Youth – Just being willing to do everything physically possible to make something work, focusing on the good times and hoping against all hope that it’ll work out. I want a guy who gives all or nothing.

Guilty pleasure song

Beautiful Soul Jesse McCartney – It’s cheesy but I love it. The whole concept is adorable and it’s not about how the person looks but what the person is as a person. The cuteness gets me everytime.

Current songs that reflect me to a T

  • Roses Shawn Mendes – I’m just going to say that the chorus from this song is me right now.
  • Style Taylor Swift – If you’ve read previous posts Just this song ose who’ve read the blog so far know that this song always reminds me of the person I like so of course it appeared on the playlist.

One out of place song that reflects a past flame

Heartbreak Girl 5sos – As soon as Niamh saw my choices, her response was, and I quote: “I’m trying to figure out who hurt u in a heartbreak girl way.” To the first guy I ever said ‘I like you as more than a friend’ to, that one’s for you.

Songs not on Spotify that needed to be mentioned in this list

For those who don’t know ‘G.M.S.O.Y.L.‘ – Wild Youth is also known as Give Me Some Of Your Love and is a song that needs to be put on Spotify just because it is that one song that I and so many other people can really understand.
