September’s Monthly Round-Up

Here we are at the end of the month! Finally, I think Green Day say it best when they sing ‘Wake Me Up When September ends!’.

September what a month it has been! Everyone is back into the swing of school/college or work. It’s been a crazy month here for us at Our Muchness Guide with, work taking preference on every aspect of our lives! Mind you, Niamh is back to watching a few TV Shows with the Fall Season in full swing. While, Emma is currently dividing her down-time between knitting and drawing [Emma: I’m on holiday for a little while since I got none while I was at work]. Both of us have been attending many events by ourselves! (Honestly, we cannot wait to be back attending gigs together in October).

The weather has had its ups and downs but it is Ireland! What do we expect? More importantly though this post is a roundup of all our favourite things we discovered, fell back in love with or just made us smile in September. So, sit back, relax and grab a warm drink because; this is our September monthly round up!

Book of the month

Emma: For me, it’s The Mortal Instruments: The Graphic Novel. I’ve loved this book series for ages but to find it with such beautiful artwork, by Cassandra Jean, used to tell such a unique story, by Cassandra Clare, was the highlight of my month and they weren’t very expensive either. I just hope they create graphic novels for the whole series of books now.

Niamh: I went on a Jane Austen binge this month. Reading some of my favourite Classical romance novels just to get away from the real world is one of my escapisms. It’s the only time I’ll read a romance novel to be honest. For this reason the book of the month goes to Mansfield Park it’s my favourite of Jane’s novels and even with work; I had it read in three days. I would urge everyone to read at least one of her novels in their lifetime. They might seem a little outdated in the language but the underlying messages still translates well to this day! Also I happen to be a hopeless and helpless romantic; give me an Edmund over a Mr. Darcy any day of the week.

TV Show Picks

N: My downtime activity for most of September has revolved around watching TV Shows! I have been lacking on keeping up on the most recent AMAZING Series in recent months so, September saw a change to that! I honestly prefer to watch an episode a week of my favourite shows instead of binge watching them. Find below in order of preference my top 5 picks for September:

5. Sirens

4. The Keith Barry Experience

3. This Way Up

2. Peaky Blinders

1. American Horror Story 1984

E: I don’t have a list of shows I’ve watched but I did binge Season 1 of Peaky Blinders just last week so I’m guessing October will be filled with so many more episodes. And, anyone with flat caps, I’m watching you…..

Movie

Good Movie Recommendation:

N: Downton Abbey – going to give it 4 stars out of 5 because it dragged in a few parts. They should have done more with Tom’s side story. A few other side stories felt rushed and let’s be real I was 100% only there for Dame Maggie Smith (who made me cry) and Allen Leech.

E: Spiderman Far From Home – Tom Holland…nuff said.

Cheesy Bad Movie Recommendation:

N:  After – that horribly cheesy movie based on a Harry Styles Wattpad Fanfiction. Myself and Emma watched this one… all I can remember is cringing alot and thinking the tattoos are all wrong. I do not recommend! Save yourself from it!

E: A Cinderella Story – The original one with Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. The cheesiness is unbelievable but, for some reason, I still love it.

Gaming

E: I’ve been playing the Spyro Reignited Trilogy on my Switch and, oh lord, it is pretty and the nostalgia is real!!! I adored that little purple dragon as a kid; now he’s less boxy, still adorable and I still love him.

N: I literally haven’t gamed much this month! So, I am going to have to say Kingdom Hearts III. I have been battling my way slowly through it since July 8th and I love it. Pretty graphics, great storyline so far and my childhood. Props to my brother for investing in the projector for the PS4 because it is so much better on the bigger screen!

Single of the Month?

N: This was the hardest decision to make this month and I know it will only get harder! I was stuck between two but, I know which one Emma is going to say so; I’ll say the other.

‘Back to You’  Hudson Taylor.

E:  The awkward moment when I have to try figure out what song I was supposed to be picking and had to ask Niamh…. whoops. Sorry!!! I actually don’t know how I forgot it.

‘Who Would Want To Be In A Guitar Band’  The Blizzards.

Album of the Month

E: Lover by Taylor Swift – this album is just so important, it is iconic and it is a treasure trove of anthems (You Need To Calm Down and I Forgot That You Existed) and love songs (Paper Rings). Sorry but September was Taylor Swift’s month and you were blessed to witness it.

N: Agreeing with Em, Queen Tay Tay has won the album of the month this month. You never knew you needed a song in your life until Taylor has brought it out. Lover was just what I needed in my life for September and we were #BLESSED to have it in our lives!

Favourite Thing About September

E: September is holiday time for me because I work all of June, July and August because of my summer contract so it’s always nice to chill out after working non-stop.

N: It’s Jumper season again. Time to layer up and enjoy wearing some of my favourite items of clothing. I literally have been living in my favourite red jumper on my days off this month.

Favourite Item of the Month

N: My Disney Animator Series travel mug which, Emma got me for my birthday last year. September has seen many a coffee and tea drank in work just to stay warm!

E: A White Cut Out Bralet or my favourite pencil that I have pared down to nearly nothing

Event of the Month?

N: Mary Black in The Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny was my event highlight for September. It was such an amazing night and I was the third youngest person in the room! I had Goosebumps for 90% of the concert. I cannot wait to hear her album with the National Symphony Orchestra. I would urge everyone to go see Mary at some point this year or on March 17th 2020 in the National Concert Hall. The musical magic is something else! What Mary captures when she is singing on stage is hard to describe, you really do need to witness it yourself to understand how amazing Mary’s performance is.

E: FM104’s The Gig – It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time and it was all for such a great cause. Plus, I reviewed it so you can all check it out just hit the Review Muchness Category in the Menu up above! 🙂

Moment of the Month

N: This was my favourite moment of September! The award for ‘Moment of the Month’ in my opinion goes to: Conor O’Donohoe’s Influencer #Spon post with Diet Coke. The real question is… Where you influenced? Personally, I was because I love Diet Coke and bought a can the same day as the promo post went up.

E: Going to agree with Niamh, Conor O’Donohoe gets the win for the Moment of the Month, being the best #influencer he could be, however, I wasn’t influenced 😛 #SugarIsForLifeNotJustForChristmas. Original Coke all the way kids!

Your Quote of the Month

N: ‘Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind!’ – Dr. Seuss.

E: ‘There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends.’ – Jane Austen

Three things you are most excited about for October?

N: London!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of the gigs and October 4th! Ruthanne’s debut album and new music from Niall Horan drops October 4th. Can you tell I may be extremely excited for some of my faves to kill it musically?

E: Did Niamh mention London? Because we’re going to London dah-ling for a Coronas gig! Who wouldn’t be excited to see the Coronas on the 23rd in London? But, me being the genius that I am, I bought a gig ticket for the 24th so I have to leave early from London and make my way to something  I’m also excited about, Wild Youth in Cyprus Avenue! All of the gigs and new music this month, I’m going to be so poor. RIP my bank account.
